About This Project

Establish a biodiversity credit framework that centers indigenous peoples and local communities as primary ecosystem stewards, with guaranteed benefit-sharing, free prior and informed consent requirements, and indigenous governance structures for credit issuance and verification. A $5 billion Indigenous Biodiversity Stewardship Fund would provide bridge financing and capacity building, while a community-based monitoring system using traditional ecological knowledge combined with satellite verification would provide credible, low-cost biodiversity measurement.
